BIODIVERSITY NET GAIN
JM Ecology have extensive experience with delivery of Biodiversity Net Gain supporting our clients from concept design through to operational monitoring of created habitats (on and off-Site). Our team have delivered Biodiversity Net Gain projects ranging from small schemes to new towns; strategic allocations. Our team includes experts in the full suite of Net Gain metric tools as well as GIS software packages.

PROTECTED SPECIES SURVEYS
Our experienced team include licensed and suitably experienced bat (including daytime, nocturnal and aerial bat surveys), great crested newt, water vole, otter, badger, white-clawed crayfish, breeding bird, common reptile and dormice surveyors; all of which make up our protected species survey offering for our clients.

HABITAT SURVEYS
At JM Ecology we pride ourselves on upholding the highest professionals standards for botanical assessment with BSBI FISC level 4 surveyors leading all of our habitat surveys including UK HAB, JNCC Phase 1, NVC, MoRPh river condition assessment, soil sampling, Biodiversity Net Gain Condition Assessment and BREEAM habitat survey.



ECOLOGY REPORTS
At JM Ecology we offer an extensive reporting catalogue including Preliminary Ecological Appraisal, Ecological Impact Assessment, Biodiversity Net Gain Reports, Environmental Statement (Ecology Chapter), Method Statements, Management Plans, Habitats Regulations Assessment, Protected Species and BREEAM reports.
PROTECTED SPECIES MITIGATION LICENSING
We offer expertise with mitigation licensing from application to operational monitoring phases of the licence life cycle. Our team routinely act as named ecologists on bat, great crested newt (including district licensing) and badger mitigation licences. We also act as registered consultants under the bat mitigation class licence scheme (low impact licence) and the great crested newt low impact licence scheme.
ECOLOGICAL CLERK OF WORKS
JM Ecology offer ecological supervisory roles on construction Sites as Ecological Clerk of Works. We use experienced team members with CSCS certification (construction professional level) and appropriate outdoor first aid qualifications. As ECoW we will deliver toolbox talks and guide Site operatives as necessary and in accordance with agreed method statements and wildlife legislation.

Formed by Directors Joe McLaughlin BSc (hons) MCIEEM and Alison McLaughlin MSc BA MCIEEM in 2022, JM Ecology have enjoyed successful year on year performance, supporting public and private sector clients with ecological consultancy services across England and Wales.
We have extensive experience with planning, including anything from household applications right the way through to supporting strategic allocations for plan level projects or ES ecology chapters.
